SYSTEMAGIC GET BUSY FOR A WIZZY
IT support firm Systemagic are getting on their bikes to raise money for local charity Designability.
Ten years’ celebration leads to charity donation
Wiltshire business women Lis McDermott and Fiona Scott celebrated their 10th business anniversary by raising more than £ 1,100 for charity.
The aim is to raise £ 4750 over the next 12 months to sponsor a Wizzybug, an innovative powered wheelchair designed specifically for children under five who due to their medical condition are unable to walk or can only walk with difficulty.
The team will be gearing up two static bikes as they attempt to cover 1000 miles a month travelling the distance from their headquarters in Bradford on Avon to their furthest afield customer in Hong Kong, a total of 4934 miles.
All funds raised across the year will go towards helping a child enjoy the freedom and fun of being a toddler by providing them a with Wizzybug. Systemagic marketing manager, Becky Land said:“ The team are super excited to start the challenge, we’ ll be inviting clients to not only sponsor us but to come to our office and help us get the miles in and reach our target. Fiona who is a Swindon-based journalist with her own media consultancy and professional photographer Lis – aka The Headshot Diva – often work together so it was natural for them to celebrate with a party.
“ It was through a chance remark,” Fiona said,“ that we realised we’ d both run our own businesses since 2008 – even though we didn’ t know each other then. We immediately wanted to celebrate and felt organising something with a purpose would be a fantastic thing to do.”
Lis said:“ Fiona and I work together often and it made sense to come up with a plan together. We both chose a charitable project we wanted to support in our community and 50 people came along on the night.”
Supported by Fiona’ s friend BBC presenter Paul Martin, the pair raised more than £ 1,100 for two local good causes. Half went to community radio station Swindon
