ELM ADDS MORE BRANCHES TO ITS TREE

The owners of one of the south west’ s leading office refurbishment and office furniture suppliers, Elm Workspace has acquired Britannia Quickmove of Wiltshire and Calne Self Store. Under Elm Holdings, the directors Daren Spencer, Ian Powell, Richard Hofen and Nick Clarke own complementary company All Boxed Storage, all based on the Porte Marsh Industrial Estate in Calne.
The acquisition of Calne Self Store was a strategic move for the company as the personal and commercial storage containers housed at All Boxed were 80 % full, with very little room for growth. Bringing Calne Store into the mix they now have room to grow and service new and existing clients’ needs.
Director Ian Powell said:“ With the acquisition of Calne Self Store, we’ ve increased our self-storage facility to 146 internal units, 400 internal long-term service crates and 52 external containers and we intend to grow the removal side of the business by expanding into commercial decanting and moving.
“ Our offering has proved highly popular with a range of businesses including carpet companies, sports retailers, ebayers and
people needing extra space to house items they don’ t have the room for at home.”
Calne Self Store was established four years ago and alongside All Boxed’ s offering, will now serve clients within a 20 mile radius with storage space starting at £ 16 per week( plus VAT) for a 25 sq. ft unit and £ 40( plus VAT) per week for a whole 20ft long container.
Elm Holdings second acquisition of 2017, Britannia Quickmove of Wiltshire was also a no-brainer for its new owners. Project director Nick Clarke said:“ It will play a central role in our strategy to deliver quality residential removals and will boost our existing commercial moves infrastructure with a fleet of vehicles and staff well-versed in all things removal.”
Previously owned by Pete Monk, Britannia Quickmove of Wiltshire was originally established as Quickmove of Calne 47 years ago. With a previous life in the RAF, Pete set up the business in a part time capacity until launching full time in 1974. He joined the Britannia Group in 1992 to give the business access to international shipping and increase the capacity of the business with a wellknown national brand. All 14 staff members, with some serving the business for over 25 years, have remained working with Britannia Quickmove since the sale. Nick Clarke added:“ One thing that was evident right from our
initial dealings was the dedication of all the Britannia team, from drivers to removers, to all the internal teams.”
Elm’ s impressive client portfolio includes Wiltshire Council, ALD Automotive, Danone / Nutricia and Good Energy.
