Duo of corporate appointments for Wiltshire Council

Two new corporate directors have been appointed as part of Wiltshire Council ’ s new management structure that will lead the delivery of an ambitious 10-year business plan .
The council ’ s Officer Appointments Committee has appointed Alistair Cunningham as corporate director for growth , investment and place , and Terence Herbert as corporate director for children and education .
They will join Dr Carlton Brand who was appointed corporate director for communities , transformation and resources in July , and Carolyn Godfrey , corporate director until she retires in October .
Baroness Scott of Bybrook , Leader of Wiltshire Council , said : “ I believe this new management structure will enable us to deliver our ambitious business plan , which reflects what Wiltshire deserves .
“ I am pleased that we have appointed internally as this demonstrates that we have developed the skills , knowledge and experience to support the effective succession in these senior roles . This is something I am keen to see at all levels across the council .”
The new structure is in place to support the council ’ s new business plan . Their vision is to create strong communities , with the key priorities of growing the economy , protecting those who are most vulnerable , and ensuring that the council is innovative and effective in how it delivers services .

SWLEP NEW BOARD MEMBERS

The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership ( SWLEP ) has appointed five new members to its Board .
The new members join the Board to support the SWLEP in driving economic growth and delivering on its ambitious Strategic Economic Plan ( SEP ) 2016-2026 to create wealth , jobs and new business opportunities in the area . The new members are :
• Col . Andrew Dawes , Joint Military Commander for UK operations across the South West and the Channel Islands - Standing Member
• Air Cdre ( Retd .) Doug Gale , MBE , Director Strategic Engagement ( Air ), QinetiQ plc
• Alex Reed , Finance Director , Calalent Pharma Solutions
• Mark Smith , Chief Executive Officer , WRc plc

The new board members were recruited to broaden the scope of experience and expertise of the Board and to replace members who were leaving due to changes in their circumstances .
Membership of the SWLEP Board is voluntary with its constitution allowing for up to 20 members of which a minimum of 70 % have to come from the private sector .

Business West appoints top marketer

The South West ’ s leading business support organisation Business West has appointed one of the region ’ s top marketers as its new chairman .
Iain Wolsey held a string of key marketing jobs on major consumer brands before setting up his own international consultancy in 1992 . He has previously been marketing director of Gateway supermarkets , been on the main board of Somerfield supermarkets and as their marketing director . In the 1970s , Iain was also marketing director of another large supermarket chain , Fine Fare , which later merged with Gateway . He was also the head of marketing for WH Smith .
