SWINDON & WILTSHIRE ’ S TOP 100 BUSINESSES
Wiltshire ’ s Top 100 in association with WHIreland is the ultimate guide to the area ’ s most successful businesses . Ranked by turnover from each company ’ s most recent results , the TBE Top 100 provides a unique insight into the diversity of Wiltshire ’ s business landscape .
For the third consecutive year , the latest financial data submitted to Companies House has been interrogated to give you our definitive list .
There is no change in the top 5 with Nationwide taking the top spot for the third year in a row , despite a fall in profits . Specialist distribution company Connect Group is hot on their heels after rising from position 4 to 2 in 2016 , securing their place for a second year with an increase in profit of nearly £ 12m .
Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions is a new entry at 10 , after opening their state of the art office in Trowbridge . And Swindon ’ s specialist IT recruiter Outsource UK is the one to watch , rising from 41 to 29 since 2016 and reporting an increase in profits of over 112 %. Designer glasses business Myoptique . com has also risen 23 places to 35 in the last year with profits up by 180 %.
Rob Perks CEO of Wiltshire ’ s largest biggest business network Inspire , said : “ It ’ s great to see so many exciting , growing businesses in Wiltshire . A number of companies in the list have joined our Elite network which was set up to provide support , access to funding and peer to peer knowledge sharing for growing businesses . One often gets the impression from Government that we are a County of sleepy micro businesses - this list proves we have a whole range of dynamic businesses that are going from strength to strength and of significance to the UK economy .”
Paddy Bradley , Director of Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership , said : “ The businesses on the list have grown their revenues during the year , although profits are broadly stable . This indicates it is a challenging environment for those businesses helping to grow our economy . It is excellent news to see that a quarter of the businesses have grown their revenue by more than 20 %, some by many times that figure . It is this level of growth which will boost our productivity and help secure employment prospects for our residents . We are in a highly competitive environment , but these top 100 businesses in Swindon and Wiltshire are showing the way . Congratulations to them all !”
