WILTSHIRE WOMEN MEAN BUSINESS In this special feature we profile some of Wiltshire's unsung business women. Lis McDermott: Headshot Diva Headshot Diva is a photography business run by Lis McDermott, based in Royal Wootton Bassett. Headshot Diva focusses on the importance of a quality headshot for people in business. Lis is passionate about helping people look their best and portray the best image possible. We interviewed Lis to find out more about her and how she works. Modern society has put increasing pressure on the way we look and are portrayed on and offline. The rise of social media sees headshots being used more and more. From LinkedIn, to Facebook and Twitter a profile picture is needed, alongside further marketing needs your business might have such as brochures, advertising and PR campaigns. Lis said: “The continued media pressure on having to look perfect, makes people so nervous when it comes to having their photo taken. A lot of people feel like photos don’t show who they really are, or what they really look like in person. Lis is the author of Headshot Diva, an effective guide to business portraits. It’s available online from the Amazon store. We play with the colours they look best in and I help them to understand that by standing or sitting tall, dropping their shoulders, they can find a stance that stretches their neck, and helps remove double-chins. “I love working with people and making them feel great. We take our time and play with different angles until we get the right one. Many of us have one eye larger than the other, a wonky nose or one side of our hair that’s better than the other. By choosing the best angle we can switch the focus and no one will notice any of these things. At the end of the day, we’re our worst critics. “I see photography as the by-product of our shoots. It’s all about the person in front of the camera and making them shine.” www.studio-cs.co.uk Creative Design - Print & Production - Display & Events - Branded Merchandise Our aim is to help you and your brand attract new customers and delight existing ones, delivering quality and value for money across a wide range of creative solutions. 14 THE BUSINESS EXCHANGE 2016 01793 336004 [email protected]
