NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
INSIDE THIS EDITION
Welcome to our third anniversary edition.
Three years in business is a huge milestone
for us, and any company in its infancy. 50
per cent of small businesses fail in their first
few years and overcoming that fledgling
period feels like a real achievement.
Many start-ups fail because they don’t do
their homework. We think one of the main
reasons we have survived is because we
listen to our clients and readers and try to
produce a product that they want to read
and be part of. The Business Exchange has
evolved over the last three years in print
and online and we are delighted that as
publishers we are bucking the trend in an
industry that’s known to be shrinking and
failing. We believe the key to our success is
that we pair print, digital and social media
together to give readers and advertisers
maximum exposure.
There have been seismic shifts in the way
that we embrace the media in the last
ten years, with many newspapers folding
in print form and offering online options
instead. However, research shows that
receiving news in newsletter format or
purely online has less of an impact. Printed
news embraces more than one of our
senses and our retention of information
is higher when reading from a book or
magazine.
In our opinion, print is certainly not dead
and paired with a strong digital offering it
can be more powerful than ever. As media
owners we are in a changing landscape,
but we’re ready to adapt and embrace new
technologies as they develop, investing in
the future of the business.
To celebrate our third year we are going
for growth and launching a Bath &
Somerset magazine and online offering this
September, so it’s exciting times for The
Business Exchange.
A huge thank you to all of our readers,
contributors, advertisers and supporters.
You mean everything to us and without
you we wouldn’t exist.
Here’s to the next three years!
