TECHNOLOGY

WILTSHIRE TECH COMPANY SETS NATIONWIDE PRECEDENT

A Wiltshire technology company has set an ambitious precedent to become one of the first companies in the UK to offer free SSL certificates to all of its customers in a bid to make the web more secure.
Recognising the growing need for online transactions and browsing to remain private, Cloud Heroes have released an updated cyber security policy which the company strongly believes will help its customers strengthen their security measures and, in turn, protect their own customers against prying eyes online.
“ It’ s an ambitious policy,” Director Andy Grant said,“ but it will have an enormous effect on our customers, and it means smaller businesses can protect their customers online without compromising limited IT budgets.”
The Trowbridge-based company hopes that within the next few months, all its new and existing hosting customers will have been
offered a free SSL certificate for their sites. Once installed, the SSL certificates will ensure all communication between the sites and visitors is encrypted and safe from eavesdropping. Protected websites will display a visible padlock in the address bar.
Cyber security isn’ t a new commitment. As Andy Grant points out, Cloud Heroes have always
been advocates of a secure, online presence, even in its early days as an Internet Service Provider over 20 years ago.“ Cyber security has always been an integral part of our services, though it’ s more important now than ever before. We already offer our customers enhanced security measures such as IP restrictions, two factor authentication and encrypted
backups. We believe it’ s part of our responsibility as a cloud and hosting provider to give UK businesses the tools they need to prevent malicious attacks when they use our services.”

Generating more leads from your website

While high-quality, search engine optimised content is a great way to boost your traffic numbers, it ' s what happens once those visitors are on your website that really counts. Unless of course, you don ' t care about conversions!
This is where optimised calls-to-action( CTAs), marketing offers, and landing pages play a major role in the performance of your website. Not only do they offer you opportunities to capture visitors ' information so you can follow up with leads, but they also keep your visitors engaged with your content and your brand. Here are some practical tips from David Bolton at Corsham-based Inbound Digital Marketing Agency Tain Brae Digital.
Define your ideal customer Before you start driving leads, you need to know who you are looking to target. Your buyer personas are your ideal customers; the people whom you would target knowing they would have the highest probability of seeing value in your offering and becoming happy customers. Some important elements to include in your buyer persona documents are their job role, position in their company, pain points, a day-in-the-life scenario and key messages that position your organisation as the solution that best meets their needs.
Create giveaway content Offer rewards in the form of content in exchange for users making an account and signing up for your newsletter. While many visitors won’ t jump at the opportunity to sign up for something, they will if they get something for it or if it helps solve an issue. If your site can offer valuable content, such as an e-book in trade for visitor’ s email, many will consider it a more than fair trade. Think of something that will help solve an issue or is valuable content to your buyer persona.
Use power words when describing your offer Powerful action verbs such as“ get”,“ feel” and“ have” are strong compellers because of their active tone as opposed to“ imagine having”,“ imagine feeling” and so on. Using action-oriented words in your offer places the customer in a pivotal role as the one receiving the benefits as opposed to simply imagining them.
Nurture your leads No lead is going to turn magically into a customer. Leads are only as good as your nurturing efforts. Place leads into a workflow once they fill out a form so they don ' t forget about you, and deliver them valuable content that matches their interest.
