GOING GREEN Commitment to the green agenda drives growth for print firm Digiprint is an independent South West based printer with offices in Bath, Chippenham and Trowbridge. Established in 1987 under a different name, owner Ben Gregory re-branded the firm to Digiprint in 2002 to reflect the change in printing technology. Often mistaken as a franchise or part of a larger concern the company has always had the aspirations of a bigger business. The concept for the existing name was devised just as digital printing was hitting the marketplace, highlighting the fact the firm has always been forward thinking. 2016 has been an exciting year so far with £460k invested in the firm’s growth. They have recently bought their Chippenham property based on New Road, completely renovated the building and purpose-built new the facilities within it. Digiprint is a green rated production facility and all paper used is from sustainable sources, meaning that for every tree cut down three are planted in its place. They’ve also invested £15k on their online shop www.digiprintgroup.com seeing a 500% increased in web sales since go-live. Digiprint’s services include traditional litho print, digital printing and wide format 20 THE BUSINESS EXCHANGE 2016 printing, shop and vehicle signage, fabric printing and exhibition displays. They also offer artwork and design services in-house. The company is committed to being an ethical business and has partnered with HP for their printing equipment, using the latest Energy Star rated machines and cutting edge technology. They were the first firm in the South West to invest when the machines were first launched five years ago and they’ve just updated the machines to the latest model. Everything is recyclable and green with the printers using vegetable based ink. HP provides a recycling programme ensuring components such as cartridges etc never go to waste. Digiprint’s HP latex printer used for signage uses water based ink ensuring no nasties are released into the air during production. Ben said: “We’ve seen a 400% increase in our signage business in the last year and four new employees have been taken on to manage the work load. Chris Bonser is our signage production manager. Some of you may know him in his other role as vice president of Chippenham’s Chamber of Commerce.” When kitting out the new Chippenham facility Ben took the initiative to ensure the working environment was green too. Ben said: “We’ve installed LED lighting throughout the property, saving us up to 60% on our energy bills. Our commitment to the green agenda has helped us win clients.
