Exceptional growth
for local IT firm
Faringdon based IT firm Computing Information
Systems (CIS), which works across the South
West, is celebrating substantial growth.
The firm which provides disaster recovery
services, cloud solutions, data management,
IT consulting and IT resource monitoring has
grown in size to a 21 strong team.
The firm started out in 1989 providing
traditional IT support services and has built
itself on strong client relationships that have
generated steady referrals over the years.
CIS has just celebrated supporting one
particular client for 20 years. Locally CIS‘s
clients include Motaquip and B4 Magazine
and they also have a number of clients
with a global footprint including St Paul’s
Cathedral and Force India F1.
In the last two years CIS has diversified to
offer a bespoke cloud computing offering
and hosts a private cloud in a data centre
situated inside an ultra-secure nuclear
bunker near Newbury, ensuring businesses
are resilient at all times.
CIS is currently offering Wiltshire firms
the opportunity to learn the importance
of security, ease of management and

functionality in cloud computing by inviting
them to tour the firm’s data centre (see full
details on page 17)
Talking about the firm’s recent growth,
Chief Information Officer at CIS Neill
Lawson-Smith said: “Growing the business
has always been our main goal since CIS
started over 25 years ago. We’ve come
a long way from where we started, with
a management team which drives more
business, delights more clients and increases
our brand exposure.”
Richard Marsh CEO of CIS added: “To say
CIS is growing is an understatement. We are
working with increasing numbers of local,
national and international businesses who
need IT and cloud services delivered in a cost
efficient and business-focused manner.”
CIS is currently in year two of their
planned expansion programme and is on
target to grow to a team of 30 staff by
April 2016.
