WILTSHIRE WOMEN MEAN BUSINESS
Emma Summers
Emma Summers is founder and
managing director of Juice Recruitment.
The firm currently employs 25 staff
and has been in business for 17 years.
Emma lives in Wiltshire with her
husband Andrew and two children
Caspar and Coco-Lilly.
Juice has offices in Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham, Swindon
and Trowbridge and boasts an impressive client portfolio
including Expolink, Novia and City Of Bath College.
Emma launched Juice in 1998 and sold her car to fund
the business. With £7k she opened her first tiny office
in Bath. Her first clients were Bath Rugby and Bowman
Distribution, who were then based on the Leafield
Industrial Estate in Corsham.
Emma recalls: “I was so excited about receiving my first
cheque from Bowman Distribution - I framed it! From day
one Juice was a labour of love and I’m really proud of its
success.”
A lot of the companies Emma built relationships with
in the early days, Juice is still working with now, such as
Helphire. Emma believes the firms recipe for success stems
from the strong brand she has worked so hard to create.
“From day one I wanted to stand out. It was a bold
move calling the company Juice. In America Juice means
vibrancy / get up and go and I wanted the brand to exude
energy, passion and enthusiasm.
“It has never been just about fulfilling a job role, but
providing excellent customer service, delivery and building
long term relationships. A lot of the companies I’ve worked
with from the early days have grown alongside Juice and
we’ve worked in partnership, supporting one another.
“I’ve always tried to give added value to our clients.
We regularly host HR forums alongside law firm Withy
King at Bath Rugby’s Farleigh House in Hungerford. Giving
something back is important to the Juice ethos. With
candidates we spend time getting to know them,
offering careers advice and with clients we spend
time understanding their needs and challenges.”
The Juice team has a work hard, play hard
attitude and enjoy outings every quarter and yearly
trips abroad to places like Marbella, Ibiza and
Barcelona. It’s this investment in building a team
that strive together for success that has created real
loyalty.
Alison Watson, manager of permanent
recruitment has been with Juice for over 11 years and
Sam Fanthorpe, manager of temporary recruitment
has been at Juice for ten.
The company has doubled in size in the last two
years in terms of turnover and the plan is to keep
growing, by continuing to provide valued customer
service.
The Trowbridge office opened in July 2014 and in its
first year has exceeded expectations. Emma said: “With
three new members to the team in the last month
and with continued growth the future looks bright
for Juice.”
