BATH’S TOP 100 BUSINESSES
Building homes and futures
Housing association and house-builder Curo is one of Bath’s biggest employers - with
more than 500 colleagues - and the city’s only organisation to make the prestigious
Sunday Times’ national list of 100 Best Not-for-Profit Organisations to work for.
“We’re always
looking for land,
opportunities and
partnerships that
will enable us to
deliver the homes
our region needs”
With over 25,000 customers, Curo
owns and manages more than
13,000 properties across the South
West and is building hundreds of
new homes every year for rent and
sale. The organisation reinvests
its surpluses from commercial
activities into delivering new
affordable homes.
Gerraint Oakley, managing
director of Curo’s house-building
business, explained: “We have no
paid shareholders; instead of paying
out dividends, we reinvest our
profits to deliver our social mission
- building the affordable homes our
region needs.
“This is the social purpose at
the heart of our organisation and
our commercial house-building
business enables us to deliver
it. For every two homes we sell
privately we’re able to provide at
least one affordable home, creating
much-needed new housing for local
families.”
Curo’s turnover in the 2017/18
financial year was £99m and the
organisation invested £17.1m in
the delivery of 118 new affordable
homes across the South West.
