BATH BUSINESSES FLOCK TO THE OWLS THIS SUMMER 10 years on from the popular Bladud’s Pigs trail, businesses in Bath are flocking around Minerva’s Owls, the latest public art sculpture trail to come to the World Heritage city. Running from the 25th June – 10th September 2018, visitors to Bath and the surrounding area will be able to discover 80 individually decorated owl sculptures, each one sponsored by a regional company. Headline sponsor, SouthGate Bath has two owls on the trail, both of which will be displayed at the centre, and has also sponsored a smaller owlet on behalf of the BANES Young Carers Centre, one of the four charities benefitting from the proceeds of the Owls of Bath auction on 17th October. Other charities set to benefit from the event proceeds include the new RUH Cancer Centre, the Roman Baths Archway Project and the UK Little Owl Project, based in Bath. Gold event sponsors include the world-famous Norland College, Bath BID, accountants MHA Monahans, Bath Percent Club, Yewtrade, Curo Group and Allen Ford, who have provided the official Owls in Transit van. The range of companies taking part in the three-month event span the width and breadth of industries nesting in and around Bath, from hospitality hotspots such as the Abbey Hotel and Ivy Brasserie to businesses making waves in creative innovation such as children’s content developers Complete Control, Matter and Rocketmakers and housing developers Crest Nicholson, Bath Quays and Holburne Park. Each owl will contain an interactive beacon, designed by local Bath based company Blispa. Using the free downloadable app, as fans approach an owl, they will receive information direct to their mobile device including sponsor logos and weblinks. This innovative technology allows sponsors to create special offers for those who visit their owl and can provide footfall and engagement insights for sponsors, helping businesses to capitalise on the extra footfall expected in Bath during the three months public art trail. Visitors can download the free Minerva’s Owls of Bath app from Bath Directory, available on Google Play and Apple App Stores.
