Sweeten your meetings & events at Cake Cafe

Cake Café on George Street, Bath is opening its second floor to the corporate market. Suitable for meetings for up to 20 people, the relaxed informal setting is perfect for small teams needing a break-out space away from the office. It has comfy seating, as well as practical tables for writing and free Wi-Fi.
The venue has hosted a number of events so far, including private parties and business events. Cake Café prides itself on its coffee, supplied by local company Clifton Coffee. Even Marco Pierre White commented on the quality on a recent visit. With cake in the name sweet treats are aplenty. They have onsite bakers cooking up British classics such as Victoria sponge, rock cakes, cream teas and Bakewell cake. They also offer a takeaway lunch meal deal from £ 3.95. This is popular with local businesses wanting to grab something quick and fresh in their lunch break.
The launch of the second floor to the corporate market comes at an interesting time for the Bath-built, independent brand, which currently has two sites in the city- the second on Quiet Street. The owners have an ambition to grow the Cake Café brand over the next five years, opening two shops per year in different locations across the South West. They currently have their eyes on Bristol for the next outlet. The coffee shop style has been developed in-house by the owners, offering a different look to the coffee shop chains, injecting colour into their branding with funky macaroon wallpaper, pastel coloured sofas and luxe granite tables.

HORSES AND COURSES

Why Bath Racecourse is not just about the racing.
In 2016 Bath Racecourse was transformed following a multi-million pound redevelopment programme opening the new Langridge Grandstand, 1811 public bar and a 200 seat- trackside restaurant, with a balcony named after Bath’ s famous Royal Crescent.
The impressive purpose-built facilities are complemented by classy corporate hospitality boxes boasting fantastic views over the racecourse.
With the arrival of the new-look facilities came an extended foodie offering suiting everyone’ s tastes. Head Chef Jonathan Williams said:“ Our options need to cater for taste, occasion and budget. We offer a huge variety from a burger or sandwich, right through to a gourmet five-course tasting menu in our Executive Suites.”
Hospitality packages at Bath Racecourse range from an all-you-can-eat-buffet style experience to fine dining,
Locally-sourced, traditional West Country fayre is at the heart of the offering. Jonathan added:“ I was born and bred in Somerset, so having Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire foods on the menu is hugely important to me.
“ I think we’ re lucky to live in one of the best areas in the country for food and drink. We work with so many local suppliers; our fruit and veg comes from just outside Swindon, our butchers are based in Bristol, our ice cream is made by Marshfield which is only about two miles away, and our bread comes from Hobbs House Bakery about 10 minutes away.
“ Working with local suppliers you get a better relationship- you can be just an account number with somebody based in London, which I don’ t really want to be. I want to be able to speak to my supplier, find out, what they’ ve got in season and what’ s available.”
With attendance of up to 10,000 on the biggest days in Bath’ s racing calendar preparation is key to getting the foodie offering right. Jon said:“ It’ s my job to make sure everything is planned two or three days beforehand. There’ s a lot to do and it’ s a challenge, but we work together as a team. It’ s a nice feeling knowing you’ ve fed that amount of people and that they are hopefully, going home happy.”
