Bath Racecourse named one of Britain’ s top tracks

Bath Racecourse has been awarded a major accolade in the horseracing industry, the Racehorse Owners Association( ROA) Gold Standard. Bath is one of twelve of Britain’ s 61 racecourses to have been named as best in the country for racehorse owners and will hold the Gold Standard for the next 12 months.
The ROA is the body that has represented racehorse owners for over 70 years and currently has in excess of 8,000 members. Representatives visited every track in Britain at least once to assess all aspects of the raceday experience for owners. In addition, feedback was provided by hundreds of ROA members following their racecourse visits.
Following major redevelopment in 2016, the ROA Gold Standard is the third award for Bath Racecourse in the last twelve months following a Racing Post and Racecourse Association Showcase Award for customer service and recognition at the Bath Business Awards for executive director, Jo Hall.
Russell Smith, acting executive director of Bath Racecourse said:“ We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the ROA Gold Standard, which is testament to the hard work that the team put in here at Bath.
“ The facilities we have here are first rate and we work hard on providing an excellent service, not only for owners and trainers, but for racegoers too. We are delighted that this has been acknowledged, and to be named as one of the country’ s best gives us a real feeling of pride.”
Alan Pickering, chairman of the ROA’ s Raceday Committee, said:“ The competitive nature of the Gold Standard Award was seen to greater effect than ever before this year, with the closest finishes thus far. The decision-making process was really challenging as the vast majority of racecourses showed improvement, which demonstrates their recognition of the importance of owners, and keeping them in the sport.
Charlie Liverton, chief executive of the ROA, said:“ The experience that an owner receives at a racecourse is one of the most important aspects affecting the enjoyment of racehorse ownership. Our awards truly set the‘ Gold Standard’ that all racecourses can aspire to and we celebrate those which go the extra mile.”
