Systemagic reduces its carbon footprint by 11.2 %
Bradford on Avon-based IT support provider , Systemagic , is pleased to announce that it has reduced its carbon emissions by 11.2 % in the last year .
The local IT company , known for its fast response and resolution times , has always been a strong advocate for the environment and green business practice , and is proudly carbon neutral .
To achieve this result , Systemagic successfully implemented all six of their planned carbon reduction initiatives last year , which included :
• Swapping all office lighting to low-power LED lighting and adding sensors to little-used areas ( i . e . toilets )
• Implementing a smart heating system which uses geofencing and analysis of weather conditions to reduce gas usage
• Installing water saving devices in WCs and its office shower , to reduce water wastage
• Changing electricity provider so that the office runs on 100 % renewable energy
• Recycling at least 2 / 3 of office waste
• Working with a recycling partner to ensure that its customers ’ machines are sustainably disposed of
The technology experts recycled 377 machines in 2023 , preventing over 24.5tn of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere .
This year , the firm plans to reduce its carbon emissions further .
James Eades , Managing Director , said , “ I ’ m proud of the progress we have made as a business in achieving carbon neutrality and driving down our emissions . This year , we will continue to focus on reducing non-essential business travel and investing in UN Gold Standard offsets when we must make essential trips .
“ We ’ ve reached a point where 97 % of our carbon footprint falls within ‘ Scope 3 ’ meaning it ’ s becoming difficult to reduce further , but we can help influence our suppliers to make more sustainable choices .”
