BATH DIGITAL FESTIVAL TO RETURN NEXT SPRING

The Bath Digital Festival will return on 14th - 16th May 2024 when it will celebrate themes that are empowered by technology in the city .
While this year ’ s festival delivered all that was hoped for , 2024 organisers TechSPARK want to evolve the concept of the festival and focus more on showcasing Bath ’ s ‘ power sectors ’, featuring tech topics that have regional strength and international importance .
The programme for the 2024 festival will cover three main topics over the three days :
TUESDAY 14TH MAY - SPORT Bath is a city full of Olympians and world leading sports people . The first day of the festival will explore how technology is enabling , changing and defining sport . This will include looking at eSport , a huge global industry with a base in Bath . The day will also look at the business of sport , from founder journeys to sports specific investors .
WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY - CITIES Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage city and is a centre for heritage tech . Technology is used in many ways from documenting Bath ’ s Fashion Museum archive to helping to find new Roman discoveries . 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution ( BRLSI ) and the team will be working with Bath Digital Festival as a key partner to celebrate technology from the last 200 years .
Lucy Paine , Bath Community Manager , techSPARK , said , “ All three topics have a huge variety of innovations , potential discussions and amazing tech to play with .
“ We ’ re going to spend a day on each topic , an expo rather than a conference with a priority of showcasing the tech , meeting the companies doing amazing things , with lightning talks , workshops and key notes - a dynamic , inspiring and educational experience for anyone working in , or interested in tech .”
THURSDAY 16TH MAY - SPACE The South West continues to be a leader in space technology , building on our understanding of distant galaxies , working out how to send people to Mars and evaluating space rocks and searching for life . Space technology also features in our daily lives and has changed how we cook , communicate and has driven the creation of new materials . There will be a space themed celebration on the Thursday night and the Bath Digital Festival team are hoping for clear skies .
