Sian Swift Sian has been part of team TBE since the summer of 2016 , joining us as we got ready to launch our Bath & Somerset magazine . Sian helps to provide a tailored service to our clients ’, listening to their needs and creating advertising campaigns and marketing opportunities that achieve results .
Sian ’ s a proud Welsh woman but has called Bath home for over 30 years . She ’ s a passionate Bath Rugby Club supporter and loves nothing more than being part of the crowd at the Rec .
She ’ s an award-winning networker and networking is her favourite thing . In her own words “ People say that I know everyone , which is obviously not true , but I ’ m working on it !”
Sian ’ s pro tip : Make eye contact , smile , shake hands , find a common interest – the weather – sport – family – food , ask questions , don ’ t sell !
EDITORIAL TEAM
Ben Carey , Carey PR Ben has worked for The Business Exchange since 2016 . He is an experienced freelance journalist and PR professional with over 18 years of experience . Well-known in Bath and the local community , Ben is passionate about helping businesses in our region share their stories in the most compelling way . He has a creative eye and is a keen photographer . You ’ ll regularly see Ben ’ s words and pictures in The Business Exchange in print and online .
Ben ’ s pro tip : When you ’ ve finished writing and proofreading your copy , use the ‘ read aloud ’ function in Microsoft Word as a final check . Your ears may pick up on something your eyes have missed .
Fiona Scott , Scott Media Fiona is a well-known member of the South West business community having worked as a journalist , TV producer and PR specialist in the region for over 35 years .
Based in Swindon but originally from Radstock , Fiona has worked as Special Features writer for The Business Exchange since 2015 , creating fresh , relevant and engaging content for our readers .
Fiona ’ s pro tip : People buy from people and they buy emotionally – share your stories to build relationships , to serve and your customers will come .
Nick Batten Nick is an experienced freelance journalist and media communications professional . He has over ten years ’ experience working for the press and in communication officer roles for local firms and charities .
Nick has been part of the editorial team since 2016 and makes sure our websites are kept up to date with the latest business news for our region . He also concentrates on exclusive content for TBE and has interviewed many high profile businesspeople from across the South West .
Nick ’ s pro tip : Never use a long word where a short one will do .
DESIGN
Dale Wyatt , Juicy Designs Dale has been an extended member of The Business Exchange team since the third issue we produced . He created the TBE brand including our new-look design to mark our 10th anniversary . He also designed the brand identity for The Business Exchange award scheme , the Techies Swindon & Wiltshire .
Dale finalises the artwork for each edition of the magazine , ensuring every issue looks its very best . He has a keen eye for detail , essential for reducing potentially costly risks at print stage and for maintaining our publications integrity .
Through his agency , Juicy Designs , Dale has worked with some enviable clients , including Castrol , Hyundai , University of Oxford and Siemens .
Outside of the studio Dale can be found enjoying the great outdoors , whether that ’ s hiking up a mountain or exploring unsurfaced roads in his trusty Land Rover .
Dale ’ s pro tip : People will form an opinion of your company when they come into contact with your different pieces of communication – your website , your proposal documents , your annual report – everything . So make sure your brand accurately and consistently reflects your business ethos across all touch points so they come away with the right lasting impression .
PRODUCTION
Steve Munson , Studio Creative Services Steve is our production pro and has worked alongside Dale to produce The Business Exchange since 2013 .
Steve is passionate about producing powerful print and works on the production of both our magazine and website artwork . He has created compelling adverts for many of our clients and has worked with us on special projects such as the production of our Techies Awards for Swindon & Wiltshire .
When Steve allows himself out of the studio , he ’ ll be found trackside supporting his son who is a UK Mini Moto champion currently competing at British Super Bikes in the Junior Supersport championship .
Steve ’ s pro tip : They say don ' t judge a book by its cover but unfortunately people do . Your business is no different . From business cards to office signage , brochures to pull ups , make sure that they are well designed and produced to the best quality , as they elude to the quality of the services and products you sell .
PRINT All our magazines are printed in Swindon at Acorn Press . Acorn Press is an ethical printer with ISO 14001 certification and the environmental aspect of printing is important to them . They use recycled or sustainable FSC papers , vegetable-based inks and recycle all of their plates and wastepaper .
We are proud to print The Business Exchange on FSC paper stock which is fully recyclable .
TBE TALKS PODCAST The TBE Talks podcast is produced and hosted by professional broadcaster Graham Seaman .
Graham is a presenter and produced having worked in both commercial and BBC radio for 40 years . He presented his own daily radio show for the BBC for over 30 years . He has interviewed everyone from Prime Ministers to showbiz celebrities and even Buzz Aldrin who landed on the moon with Neil Armstrong . Graham sought a new direction almost three years ago and took the leap into the freelance world , setting himself up as a podcast presenter / producer . Graham has worked for many corporate businesses helping give them greater exposure to a larger number of people through their stories of innovation and success .
When we decided to launch a podcast in late 2021 , we couldn ’ t think of a better person to collaborate with . Graham puts our guests at ease to tell their tales in a natural and compelling way and produces a highly polished product which we are proud of .
Graham ’ s pro tip : ‘ Be yourself ’. As simple as this may sound , don ’ t try to copy other entrepreneurs ’ style or behaviours that you may be influenced by . You are unique in what you do and how you ’ re perceived by others . You may well be in a crowded market , in a similar line of work , but you are the difference .
