Founded by local West Country girl Steph Wilder in 2019 , Good Day Cafe first opened as an all day ‘ brunch ’ restaurant , but rapidly established itself as one of the go to café ’ s in the centre of Bath . Its cakes and pastries are so sought after that it has had to expand its bakery into an adjacent shop and it now ships its treats around the world thanks to the success of its online business .

THE CHALLENGE
• Brand new small hospitality business starting out just as the pandemic hit .
• Wanted an accountant who would be able to help with payroll and general accounts .
• Had no previous experience with business accounts and very little knowledge of what would be required by HMRC .
• Needed help to understand how the company could be structured .
I knew that starting a business would mean I needed an accountant and RS had a very good reputation . I had no experience in this kind of thing and RS provided a lot of support .
Debbie helped me understand the financials as well as the accounting software I needed . She gave me great advice and support and even now she is just as helpful as she was then .
Good Day Cafe is continuing to grow rapidly and is now one of the most talked about cafes in Bath . Its online business is shipping worldwide with a portion of the company profits now going to charity each month . The success of the last few years has also meant that it has been able to expand and now has its own bakery adjacent to the cafe . This is now responsible for around 35 per cent of the turnover and has created several jobs .
The company is now much more self sufficient and has a better knowledge of general accounting . With RS support , the team are now able to do their own payroll and keep on top of the numbers - meaning Steph has more time to create delicious cakes and treats .
