5th ANNIVERSARY ISSUE

As the second year comes around when businesses of all sizes have had to cope with economic challenges not faced for more than a generation – the chance to even have a little ‘ pat on the back ’ is most welcome . We would encourage you all to do the same . Every milestone now is worth a cheer and can inspire others to keep on going .
To remind you here are just a few things which happened during 2016 :
Rio 2016 saw some amazing sporting achievements including swimmer Michael Phelps becoming the most decorated Olympian to date .
The UK voted to leave the European Union .
Donald Trump became the 45th President of the USA .
Some famous faces passed away : David Bowie , George Michael , Alan Rickman .
The Queen celebrated her 90th birthday .
Editor Anita Jaynes said , “ It ’ s hard to believe this September we ’ re celebrating eight years of The Business Exchange in Swindon & Wiltshire and five years of The Business Exchange in Bath & Somerset .
So much has happened ( especially in the last year and a half ) and I ’ m pleased to say despite the recent challenges we ’ re still going strong , and our offering is continuing to grow and develop .
“ We ’ re now Bath AND Swindon and Wiltshire ’ s ONLY B2B publisher offering coverage in print and online and connecting people through networking events and awards .”
The Business Exchange really has evolved in the last eight years . It began with the Swindon and Wiltshire magazine and website , then the Bath website and in 2016 published the first quarterly Bath & Somerset magazine .
Two years later along came the Techies ( our tech awards for Swindon and Wiltshire ) and in 2019 we launched our first South West Charity Conference which grew to a Conference and Expo in 2020 with over 500 attendees .
Anita added , “ I think the reason we ’ ve survived and thrived when so many publishers are folding is we truly care about our community , connecting people and seeing businesses grow as a result of working with us .
“ This business will never make me a millionaire , yet it brings me so much happiness working with such fantastic people , all with the same goal , to earn an honest living , do a great job for
