Bath is Back in Bloom

To celebrate the reopening of the city postlockdown and to welcome visitors to Bath , the business community has come together to sponsor a colourful display of planters along the Parade Gardens balustrade .
There are 25 planters sponsored by 25 businesses from across the city , supporting Bath & North East Somerset Council ’ s Bath in Bloom appeal to make the city a greener and more beautiful place to live , work and visit .
The planters were possible after Claire Smith , Office Director at Bath ’ s leading engineering consultancy , Buro Happold , planted the seed , emailing business friends from across the city to see if they would get behind the idea .
Jennifer Phillips , Senior Business Development Executive at Buro Happold , said , “ It was a great morning with great people and it ’ s lovely to see the buzz returning to Bath . I hope our colourful contribution will put a smile on people ’ s faces as they walk past .”
Daniel O ’ Connor , Associate Director , Transform Communications , added , “ From growing up and completing my school years in Bath , to now running two businesses in the area , it was an easy decision to support
" It was an easy decision to support this initiative , to do what we can to make Bath a little bit more beautiful as everyone returns to the city ."
Anita Jaynes , Founder of The Business Exchange said , “ When I received Claire ’ s email it was a no-brainer to support Back in Bloom . The financial commitment wasn ’ t huge once shared amongst 25 businesses and the planters will make a real difference to people ’ s first impressions of Bath . The planters are in a prime spot enjoyed by locals and tourists alike .
“ The business community should work together on more initiatives like this , as together we can make a real difference . A big thank you to Claire for making this happen .”
Representatives from many of the businesses came together on the morning of Friday 4th June with trowels at the ready to plant some beautiful flowers , heralding the start of summer and the return of visitors and vibrancy to the streets of Bath . this initiative , to do what we can to make Bath a little bit more beautiful as everyone returns to the city .
