A YEAR IN REVIEW
2016 has been a busy and successful year for Queen Square based accountants, Milsted Langdon.
Leading from the front, director Peter Groves
and partner Ian Lloyd are ever keen to be
part of the local business community, and the
firm has been at the forefront of this year’s
key issues.
On the run up to the EU Referendum the
firm staged a series of events chaired by their
economic consultant, Kevin Butler. Kevin was
former head of audit and regional director for
the Bank of England
In July Kevin wrote a column exclusively for
The Business Exchange entitled ‘Life in a post
Brexit world’. He urged all firms to reach out
to their stakeholders with the message: “We
Dan Kenyon (far right) with the
Bath Young Professionals at Bath Racecourse
want to carry on working with you for the
long term and will find a way.”
This summer the firm celebrated winning a
major industry award. They were announced
as winner of the Tolley’s Taxation Awards
2016 in the Best Tax Practice in a Regional
Firm category.
The award demonstrated Milsted
Langdon’s consistently high quality of
taxation services and technical strength, as
they were just one of five UK accountancy
practices shortlisted in the category.
Dan Kenyon, general practice manager
at the firm’s Bath office is an active member
of the committee for the Bath Young
Professionals group. Throughout 2016 Dan
helped organise and represented Milsted
Langdon at a number of events including one
at Bath Racecourse. Dan said:“I enjoy finding
new ways to help Bath’s young professionals
to make contacts and engage with the city’s
professional community, whilst still enjoying
themselves.”
In October, Jonathan Langdon, one of
the founders of the firm attended a special
celebration at Bath Abbey marking the
50th anniversary of the founding of Bath
University. The Uni will always will be close
to his heart as this is where he studied and
met his business partner Simon Milsted.
Jonthan said: “It was wonderful to attend
such a great event alongside the great and
good of Bath, including Royal visitor Price
Edward. Bath is a special place and I’m proud
to say it’s where I trained and chose to get
married.”
2017 is set to be a full on year for Milsted
Langdon, with a series of property tax
seminars being planned alongside Peter
Greatorex from The Apartment Company.
They are also currently planning a business
club dinner at The Pump Rooms in June.
The firm who are shirt sponsors of
Bath Rugby’s Jeff Williams, look forward
to another year entertaining clients and
professional contacts and forging strong
relationships with the club.
They will also be extending their
programme of charity lunches, working with
local law firms, helping local charities, schools
and academies take control of their finances
as Milsted Langdon specialise in this area.
Milsted Langdon works across the South
West helping businesses to grow and thrive
alongside them. They have offices in Bath,
Bristol, Taunton, Yeovil and London.

Launch of powerful new
software for accountants
A Chippenham-based firm have launched a pioneering piece of software
they say is going to revolutionise the way accountants work.
Jessica Pillow, owner of Pillow
May Accountants has joined
forces with two other partners
Simon Goodyear and Ross
Layton from the App Collective
to release mTrio, a cloudbased solution that works on
Salesforce, the world’s biggest
CRM package.
Jessica came up with the idea
after becoming increasingly
frustrated with the cloud-based
solutions on offer. She found
them repetitive, time-consuming
and in places risky and thought
there must be a better way of
getting the job done.
The end goal for Jessica was
to create a system that was more
efficient, freeing up her staff to
concentrate on more meaningful
work.
One of mTrio’s first clients
Della Hudson, of Hudson
Business Accountants said:
“After a year of searching, and
not quite finding what I wanted,
it was a relief to discover mTrio
which will replace three existing
systems and should allow me to
step further away from the day
to day running of the business.”
