Truespeed announces full-fibre roll out in Bath region
Bath-based Truespeed has started rolling out its ultrafast , gigabit-capable full-fibre broadband network in Bath while also expanding its footprint into neighbouring areas in Somerset including Keynsham , Saltford and South Widcombe .
In Wells , where the build began in June 2020 , over 3,000 premises are now able to connect to the Truespeed network .
The firm has announced that it is boosting its investment in the city with plans to connect more areas . It is also continuing to expand its building works in surrounding communities such as Wookey and Coxley .
On a mission to bring left-behind towns , cities and rural communities across the
South West the benefits of affordable , full-fibre broadband , Truespeed ’ s ultra-fast connectivity infrastructure roll-out continues at pace .
Truespeed has already connected over 200 communities ignored by national broadband providers . By building a brandnew infrastructure , the company can deliver 10-gigabit capable full-fibre broadband directly into premises , guaranteeing quick connectivity and cast-iron reliability even at peak times . The company is en route to its ambitious target of passing 500,000 properties by 2025 . In keeping with its community first ethos , Truespeed also offers primary schools and community hubs passed by its network free ultrafast broadband for life . To date , over 100 schools and community hubs have signed up .

The AGF Awards are a series of independent sustainability awards and certification for festivals and public events . Participants in the Awards , which are a leading kite mark of sustainable and regenerative events , undergo a detailed evidence-based assessment throughout the whole event process including self-assessment , independent site visits , and post-event proof and analysis , including detailed CO2 and sustainability reports .
The Bath Half ’ s sustainability credentials were judged on a range of factors such as travel and transport ; procurements including food and beverage ; power ; solid waste ; recycling ; circularity ; communications and CO2 analysis .
Positive sustainability measures implemented by the Bath Half have included banning the sale of single use plastics by partners and traders ; encouraging runners to bring refillable bottles ; hiring and reusing materials , equipment and signage ; and salvage operations for donating surplus food to Bath Food Banks , and T-Shirts to a refugee charity .
The event ’ s accessible location also adds to its sustainability credentials by encouraging use of public transport .

Andrew Taylor , Race Director for the Bath Half Marathon , said , “ We are particularly proud to have been the first event in our sector to receive this award . The AGF assessment process and report was a challenging and robust examination of our waste processes , providing very helpful and informed third-party insights and validation of our work , highlighting areas of improvement for future years .
“ We would like to thank our event partners , particularly Wessex Water for working with us to replace bottled with mains drinking water at last year ’ s race , also MJ Church who have provided event waste management services for our event for a number of years , and our team of volunteers from local community groups who staff our aid stations ."
The 2020 Bath Half was the first time a UK water company has worked in this way with a large-scale running event . Runners and spectators were able to fill up their reusable bottles at HydroZones , with tap water stations also supplying water in compostable cups during the race for those who preferred to run without a bottle . The Bath Half 2021 is due to take place on Sunday 5th September .
