INVEST IN BATH
ACHIEVE in BathNES will be hosting a free Midlife MOT event
Location: Apex Hotel, Bath
Date: 27th February 2020
Have you heard of a Midlife MOT?
The mid-life MOT is a review that enables individuals
to assess their health, skills and finances, to better
enable them to prepare and plan for the future they
want. Research has shown that once people reach
50, they are more likely to fall out of the workforce,
putting them at greater risk of poverty in retirement.
Our aim is to host a day that is informative for
the aging work force. Anyone who is 45+ will be
invited and encouraged to attend. We are looking for
employers, employees and the unemployed.
Part of our strategic objectives for our
Employment and Skills plan is to ensure we are
promoting inclusive growth, linking residents to
opportunities, helping businesses grow and access
the skills they need now and in the future.
We want to provide a day that is educational,
supportive and offering tools on how to retain staff,
as well as help with areas of better engagement,
increased learning and development of staff and
reducing staff absence and ill health. By retaining
an ageing workforce you are keeping knowledge and
skills within the organisation.
Time: 10am - 4pm
Refreshments and lunch will be provided
On the 27th February we will be joined by local
services and providers in the B&NES area as well
as a number of informative workshops and key
speakers. Our Key speakers will be:
• Google will run a workshop on self-promotion
using the hashtag #iamremarkable
• Aviva who are the pioneers of the mid-life MOT.
They will discuss the work they have done how
it has been adopted by government and being
trialled by other companies and organisations.
• ACAS will talk about how to help employers and
employees take practical steps to support older
workers, recruit and retain them.
• Business in the Community has produced a wide
range of toolkits and fact sheets designed to help
you retain, retrain and recruit older workers.
