INVEST IN BATH
PROGRESS ON BATH QUAYS
LEGAL & GENERAL APPOINTED
FOR BATH QUAYS NORTH
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s ambitious
scheme to develop Bath Quays has taken a major
step forward with the appointment of Legal
& General and its development manager Bell
Hammer to develop Bath Quays North.
The contract will see high-quality offices and
new homes, including affordable housing,
constructed on the site near Churchill Bridge.
It offers the potential to develop and grow
Bath’s economy providing much needed
business space for the city’s growing
businesses and attracting quality employers
to the city.
Legal & General will deliver 20,000 square
metres of new ‘Grade A’ office space creating
up to 1900 new jobs and a minimum of 70
new homes on the Bath Quays North site.
All the new buildings that comprise
Bath Quays North will be designed to
reduce their environmental impact, adapt
to climate change and incorporate features
that enhance the health and wellbeing of
occupiers and the wider community.
The development, which is less than
a five-minute walk from Bath Spa rail
station, will incorporate new pedestrian and
cycling routes to promote active methods
of transport. Occupiers and visitors will
benefit from class-leading cycle facilities to
encourage sustainable travel.
MEANWHILE ACROSS THE RIVER...
On the opposite bank
of the River Avon,
construction on No.1 Bath
Quays is now underway.
Forming part of the Bath Quays South
development, No.1 Bath Quays will provide
approximately 5,000 square metres of ‘Grade A’
space, with occupations set for autumn 2021.
A further 3,700 square metres of creative
workspace will also be available in the
former Newark Works building, ensuring the
accommodation needs of our burgeoning creative
and tech start-ups are met. Finally, construction
work is commencing on a pedestrian bridge to link
the Bath Quays North and South sites.
Councillor Dine Romero, leader of Bath & North
East Somerset Council, said, “The redevelopment
of Bath Quays will boost business, skills and
job opportunities in Bath and the wider region,
bringing new spaces for work, life and culture.
“Bath is ready to embrace this opportunity
for renewal and show that the city is open for
business.”
