POSITIVE BUSINESS
The Try Games - the
sports event for everybody Bath’s 1st Office commits to
Corporate Social Responsibility
Is your business interested in supporting
an amazing Bath sporting event? The Try
Games - the sports event for everybody.
On Sunday 23rd June 2019, the Bath
community is being encouraged to come
together and take part in The Try Games
– an exclusive fundraising event for Three
Ways School, held at Odd Down Sports
Centre.
Three Ways School is a special needs
academy in Bath offering a unique,
stimulating environment for pupils with
learning difficulties and disabilities aged
3-19. The purpose of The Try Games is
threefold: Andrew Jones, Sales Director at 1st Office Equipment,
tells us about his company’s commitment to
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in 2019.
1) To provide a variety of fun and inclusive
sporting activities for everyone in the
community of Bath, regardless of their
ability;
2) To encourage able bodied and disabled
children and adults to take part in
activities they haven’t tried before;
3) To raise funds for Three Ways School to
enable pupils to access sporting clubs
and activities, have new experiences
and gain skills.
The Try Games 2018 was a huge success
and enjoyed by over 500 participants.
Three Way’s is hoping to double
participation in 2019 and needs your
support to make this possible.
The 2019 Try Games is proud to be
partnering with some of Bath’s finest
including, Gympanzees, Super Pirates,
Team Bath, Bath Rugby Foundation,
Bath City FC Foundation, Nova Sport and
Coaching and Adaptive Martial Arts.
On the day there will be at least 20
different activities on offer; including
wheelchair basketball, circus skills,
football, martial arts, sensory zone,
dance, fun runs and more.
The 23rd June is also International
Olympic Day and the Try Games will
enable people to join with others around
the world to celebrate sport and the
Olympic ethos; “To practise sport without
discrimination of any kind and in the
Olympic spirit, which requires mutual
understanding with a spirit of friendship,
solidarity and fair play”.

It’s been a great start to the year for 1st Office
Equipment. One of our many resolutions this
year is to get more involved within our local
community and where better place to start
than by attending and supporting the inaugural
South West Charities Conference (SWCC). It
was an inspiring day and a fantastic networking
opportunity for South West based charities. Our
contribution to the event was to raffle a brand
new Lexmark Desktop printer which was won
by local charity ‘Off The Record’ which was
set up in 1994 and aims to promote emotional
health and well-being in young people. In
this time of uncertainty, it’s important that
businesses engage with their local community
and what better way to do that by assisting
charities where we can. We sincerely hope
that events like the SWCC which champion the
Third Sector and bring organisations together
will continue in Bath - 1st Office will certainly
be there to lend our support in any way we can.
I am proud to announce that 1st Office
is also working with Bath-based charity,
VOICES. Founded in 2014 by women who
have experience of domestic abuse, VOICES
supports victims and survivors to recover
and thrive. Not only do they work to raise
awareness of the nature and impact of
domestic abuse and of the needs of survivors
and their families but also provide community
based recovery programmes and one-to-one
advice and counselling.1st Office has offered
assistance by providing them with a printer that
VOICES Ursula Lindenberg and
Andrew Jones, 1st Office Equipment
can meet the day to day needs of the growing
charity.
VOICES welcomes enquiries from people
concerned about their own relationship or
about the welfare of others in their family,
workplace or community.
Ursula Lindenberg from the charity is
delighted with the new addition to the office
and has said that the new printer will have a
positive impact in their offices by improving
productivity and, with the new functions the
printer provides, it will allow them to be more
creative.
And this is just the start! We’re feeling
very positive about 2019 and making more
connections with our neighbours in the
Bath community, both businesses and local
community schemes alike.

Natural therapy collection launched
in support of Dorothy House
Lifestyle brand Ubiety has launched its
first collection of luxurious, natural, ethical
skincare and wellbeing products online at
findUbiety.com in support of Dorothy House
Hospice Care.
The company was set up to provide the
charity with a new income stream and
shares its passion for holistic wellbeing.
Ubiety sources its products from local
companies including Wells-based Arcania
Apothecary Ltd and Bath’s Limelight. Supple
Studio, also from Bath, has created the
product branding and all profits from Ubiety
go directly to Dorothy House.
Dorothy House Hospice Care expects its
number of patients to double by 2025 and
Ubiety will form an important part of its
funding over the coming years.
The brand’s initial collection of six
products uses natural ingredients and
includes a hand wash, hand lotion, body
salve, lip balm, facial mist and scented
candle. The new skincare and wellbeing
range is designed to appeal to customers of
all ages looking for quality products from an
ethical and socially responsible company.
Ubiety prides itself on providing a fully
sustainable product range that uses
only vegan and environmentally-friendly
ingredients whilst placing emphasis on
making people feel better through using and
gifting the products and through funding
charitable community care.
Marianne Cantelo, Ubiety Co-Founder
at Dorothy House in Winsley said, “With
Arcania’s generous offer to develop a range
of products for us there was an opportunity
to reflect the Hospice’s emphasis on holistic
care and wellbeing in a luxurious new brand
that generates income for the charity.”
Richard Howard, Founder of Arcania
Apothecary in Wells added, “It’s easy to
create an authentic luxury brand when
Dorothy House’s heritage is so genuine. By
bringing Ubiety to the market place we are
doing something good as there is something
worthwhile behind it.”
Cathy Biggs, Founder of Limelight, a
home fragrance manufacturer based near
Bath added, “We are thrilled to be part of
the Ubiety team and so pleased that all
the profits raised will go directly to this
wonderful local charity which helps so many.
The blend of essential oils in the candle
we’ve made for Ubiety is divine, gently
soothing and relaxing, just like walking in a
woodland.”
