Bath BID Awards 2018 The Bath Business Improvement District (Bath BID) is an independent, not for profit, business-led initiative working to create the environment for businesses in Bath to succeed. Allison Herbert, Chief Executive of Bath BID; “There are many organisations that we work with that are striving hard on a daily basis to develop the local economy and enhance the experience for the many visitors, residents and workers. We are delighted to applaud their efforts at the Bath Business Awards.” The Bath BID Awards are a new initiative for 2018 to highlight those organisations that are making a difference. The awards focused on in their five areas – Welcome, Smart, Safe, Clean and Prosperous and the winners were announced at the AGM in October. CLEAN This category is to recognise those businesses in the city that have made significant improvements in the management of their waste to the benefit of all. The winner is the Ivy Restaurant “The Ivy has been trading in the city for just over 12 months and has continually strived to ensure that they find the best way to manage their waste” Jon Raby, BID Ranger Services Manager was pleased to present the award; “The Ivy has been trading in the city for just over 12 months and has continually strived to ensure that they find the best way to manage their waste – up to 50 waste bags each day plus cardboard and hundreds of bottles. They have thoroughly engaged with the use of seagull proof sacks which the BID supply and they monitor the kitchen porters to ensure all waste is presented on the streets at the required times in a neat and orderly manner. They have shown great courtesy and care to the general public by liaising with the BID and with the waste contractors to ensure that the daytime and night time flourishes without disruption.” SAFE This category is for businesses involved in the night-time economy that demonstrate how their initiatives and collaborations help keep city workers and visitors safe. The winner is Komedia Jenny Adams, Bath BID Ranger with responsibility for Nightwatch commented; “The award for 2018 goes to Komedia because they have been at the forefront in engaging with the student population of the city, working closely with both universities, the safer communities projects, the Ask for Angela initiative, the It’s Never Ok education campaign as well as supporting Project Argos, the counter-terrorism initiative.
