In your opinion , what makes a pair of jeans the perfect fit ?
If a person feels confident wearing them , then everything else doesn ’ t matter . That ’ s what makes a pair of jeans perfect .
What is your favorite part of owning a business here in LA ?
I enjoy meeting interesting people every day and gaining a new perspective daily .
DENIM REVIVAL
A good pair of vintage Levi ' s will forever have a special place in our wardrobe … And with Denim Revival , the perfect fit doesn ’ t have to be hard to find . With incredible customer service , denim repair offerings , and a keen eye for the best jeans in the business - this hidden gem on 3rd is a must whether you ’ re looking for a new pair to live in , or a full haul to return home with . Stephan Brovko , the expert behind the vintage denim we all love , took the time to share more about the magic of our favorite denim source :
Can you share the origin story of Denim Revival with us ?
Denim Revival has been around since the ‘ 90s , but this iteration was bought out by the current owner Anna , in the early mid- 2000s . A legendary tailor in LA , she has been running the space solely as just alterations and repair . However , as of 2023 , we have been working together , with vintage in the front and alterations in the back , helping each other along the way .
What inspired you to focus on denim specifically ?
Denim isn ’ t the only focus , but it is the main one . The simple answer is it ’ s timeless and can honestly last forever if taken care of correctly . Once you look at so many pairs , it really becomes addicting to admire the different wash patterns , cuts , and details on each pair of jeans , each telling a story . When you come across jeans that are nearly 100 years old , it ’ s almost like a time portal back in time .
Is there a style you believe tends to look good on everyone ?
Classic fitted straight- leg jeans look good on everyone , and are one style that will never go out of fashion .
What are some of your favorite hidden gems in Los Angeles ?
The Rosebowl flea market isn ’ t really a hidden gem , but is the only place where you can find literally anything for sale . The mix platter at New York Chicken and Gyro ( the location in the valley ) is insane . Melet Mercantile is an amazing store , and Top of Topanga Overlook is my favorite spot to watch the sunset in the evening .
How do you select the vintage jeans you sell ? Are there specific brands you consider to be higher quality than others ?
Mainly , I look for USA-made denim , primarily Levi ’ s , and the biggest two factors are always wash and cut . It needs to have either one or both .
