peculiar new year traditions In Russia, good fortune is predicted for the New Year when the first visitor is a man. Ah oh! No problem ladies. Let them bask in the glory, one day at least! In Japan, they ring all the bells 108 times in accordance with the Buddhist belief that it brings cleanness. I would prefer eating Ice cream on New Year’s Eve rather than dropping it on the floor. But, Switzerland does it the other way round. In Denmark, they save all their plates and unused dishes until the 31st December, after which, they shatter them against the walls of the houses of their friends and families, affectionately, of course. This one’s my personal favourite. In Colombia, the residents carry their suitcase with them all day in hopes of having a travel filled year. Well, my suitcase is packed!
