peculiar new year traditions
In Russia, good fortune is
predicted for the New Year
when the first visitor is a
man. Ah oh! No problem
ladies. Let them bask in the
glory, one day at least!
In Japan, they ring all the
bells 108 times in
accordance with the
Buddhist belief that it brings
cleanness.
I would prefer eating Ice
cream on New Year’s Eve
rather than dropping it on
the floor. But, Switzerland
does it the other way round.
In Denmark, they save all
their plates and unused
dishes until the 31st
December, after which, they
shatter them against the
walls of the houses of their
friends and families,
affectionately, of course.
This one’s my personal
favourite. In Colombia, the
residents carry their
suitcase with them all day
in hopes of having a travel
filled year. Well, my
suitcase is packed! Am
already planning a trip to
Colombia, who’s with me?
