more CAREER OPPORTUNITIES NSW Law Reform Commission Winter Internships The NSW Law Reform Commission (LRC) invites applications for legal internships during the 2014-15 summer university vacation, from law students in their final year, law students entering their final year in 2015, and recent law graduates. Interns work as volunteers on a full-time basis. The LRC does not provide any remuneration or financial assistance to interns. An internship at the LRC provides an opportunity to work closely with the Commissioners and law reform staff and contribute directly to the development of proposals for law reform. Depending on the reference this could mean undertaking research, contributing to drafting consultation documents, assisting with consultation processes, or helping draft reports. The LRC credits the contribution of interns in its published papers, and seeks to provide a stimulating environment and a varied experience for interns. Interns should be available to work 8-12 weeks full-time, commencing on a date between November 2014 and January 2015. Please indicate your availability when applying. The LRC works closely with the NSW Sentencing Council, and may also place interns with the Sentencing Council depending on business needs. Please indicate in your application if you would be interested in undertaking an internship with the Sentencing Council. Information about the LRC and the conditions applying to internships is available on their website: Your application will have: 1. a strong academic record; 2. well-developed legal research and writing skills; 3. strong communication and interpersonal skills; and 4. a demonstrated interest in law reform and policy development. Your application should contain: a statement outlining how you meet these four criteria (1-2 pages); a curriculum vitae; and an up to date academic record (an official transcript is not necessary), including results for Semester 1, 2014 where relevant. Please send your application, addressed to Emma Hoiberg, to: [email protected]. Closing date of applications is Friday 26 September 2014 9
