A Passion for Fashion
A new look for
The European Man.
From Kiev to Krakow , Londo to Lubeck, men’s fashion this century have never looked so good. Wide necklines jackets, clothing with puffed sleeves, flat berets, and even shoes, with broad, blunt noses called “beaks of duckling” are being seen in the best courts. Polish fashionistas have described their designs as extensive, heavy and flowing. No more coarse goats wool, the new materials from the east, cotton, silk, linen and batiste really make his underwear a little less itchy.
The new style is for large patterns of velvet on a gold background. The stylish court beau puts the peacocks to shame with images embroidered with black or gold thread. The most representative outfit topsheet is szuba: robe made of precious material with large, collar falling into the shoulders and often with slit sleeves. It has got fur as a lining. Sleeves of “szuba” can also hang freely from the elbow. The classic fur of beavers sable, foxes, squirrels and dormouse has survived the centuries and is still the preferred lining.

Girls, with those crinoline hoops worn under a skirt you can be mistaken for a Spanish Princess.
Rumour has it these became fashionable after a queen decided her hips are too narrow and wanted to feature them with her dress.

Today’s fashions are made by craftsmen themselves or in groups. All the items of clothing were handmade.
Although numerous monarchs influenced todays fashion, the Tudor monarchs of England are perhaps the most important fashion icons in Western European fashions of the 16th century. Henry VIII led the way for the boys, but the question the fashion world is asking is will his daughters Mary an Elizabeth follow in their father’s footsteps and have the women of Europe copying their style.
