Joost van den Vondel

Joost van den Vondel was born on the 17th of September in 1587.Joost wrote poems, plays and he wrote a couple of books. One of his plays, Gijsbrecht van Aemstel, is well known.

In 1664 Joost wrote a poem about Lucifer. This was for his book “Paradise lost”. In this book Joost wrote about the difference between heaven and hell.

Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft

a Dutch writer, historian, poet and play writer. He was born on the 16th of March in 1581. He wrote for example the play : Granida. The play was about the young shepherd Daifilo who falls in love with the princess of Persia: Granida. He manages to marry her despite their differences in class.
