When you hear the horn of the baker in the morning you know that the baker has fresh bread right out of the oven. The baker’s specialty is his rye bread which is great for breakfast. The milkman also walks through the city with his fresh milk.

Most people eat rye bread, butter, cheese, eggs or meat for breakfast and drink milk, beer or jenever. Around noon most people had their lunch. The most common lunch is meat from an ox, pork or fish. For dinner there are not many vegetables. Sometimes onions and carrots with meat and cabbage but cabbage makes you grumpy and your stomach can make strange movements.
