a p p r e c i a t i o n – f o r l e a r n e r s a g e d 1 3 t o 1 7 4.4 The Telephone Dictation Workshop – group learning and team work - Learner audience: students from 13 to 17 years of age by Magdalena Bobek, mag – foreign language teacher at lower secondary school level, Slovenia OBJECTIVES The main objectives of the workshop: - to make students aware that group/team work can be less stressful for all involved - To make less able students aware that they, too, can contribute something to the task at hand without them having to feel less worth than their peers - To make all participants aware of the different ways a book can become interesting and its contents easy to remember WORKSHOP PROCEDURE Step 1: Forming groups - Students are put into 4 rows of 5 students of mixed ability and mixed nationality, forming a team. The number per row should not exceed 6. Step 2: Pre-activity The teacher prepares: = strips of paper each containing one of the titles of the chapters from the book, Matilda = copies of nine pictures of scenes taken from the book for each team - 76
