After breakfast the pupils are asked to share their impressions of Reading Night.
It has been found that Reading Night motivates learners to read because of the friendly and
relaxed atmosphere in which all the activities take place. Such an atmosphere helps to
strengthen bonds between pupils and create new friendships. If tried at any school, Reading
Night will definitely become a regular addition to reading motivation strategies upon the
pupils’ own demand, as it has become in many schools all over Slovenia.
4 th Activity: Reading with the therapy dog, Oja
Animals have always had a special place in children’s hearts, and do wonders in helping to
motivate them to read. Our 5 th grade pupils had the privilege of hosting the school
