A Fond Farewell to Dr . Bernard Tolpin
We wish a fond farewell to Dr . Bernard Tolpin who will be stepping down on January 1 , 2017 as Vice President of Dental Medicine . We thank him for his many years of dedicated leadership and service to NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine . Dr . Tolpin joined the organization in 1983 , serving as Director of both GPR and AEGD programs . In 2012 he assumed the position of Vice President of Dental Medicine . Dr . Tolpin received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1960 and Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University School of Public Health in 1976 . Prior to joining NYU Lutheran , Dr . Tolpin held faculty positions with both Columbia School of Dental and Oral Surgery and Farleigh Dickenson University School of Dentistry . Dr . Tolpin will be remembered not only for his academic acumen but for his compassion for patients , particularly children for whom he sometimes played guitar to help them relax before dental procedures .

A Fond Farewell to Dr . Azam Khan
NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine and the El Rio Community Health Center in Tucson , AZ , wish to thank Dr . Azam Khan , staff dentist and lead faculty at El Rio Southwest for his 15 years of service to the AEGD Program and A . T . Still University Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health external site rotation . Dr . Khan , a NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine AEGD alumnus who was hired following his graduation from the El Rio program , entered private practice in the Fall 2015 .

In Memory of Dr . Kesnel Dufresne
We are saddened by the loss of Dr . Kesnel Dufresne . Dr . Dufresne was the inaugural PEDS / Maryland Associate Director for NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine . He passed away on November 9 , 2015 . Dr . Dufresne graduated from the Universidad Autonoma De Nuevo Leon , Monterrey . He was a pediatric dentist affiliated with the James Lawrence Kernan Hospital in Maryland and practiced in Hyattsville , MD .
