DR . SARA ZAHOOR RECEIVES NEW HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AWARD
ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE HEALTHCARE HEROES AWARD RECIPIENT
Congratulations to Dr . Samer Rashad , Pediatric Dentistry resident in Brooklyn , NY . Dr . Rashad ' s case described below was selected as the Case of the Month by the Second District Dental Society . Brief Description : A 5 year old female was treated for a very large Odontoma through a collaborative effort with doctors at NYU Langone Brooklyn & Bellevue Hospitals . A team consisting of oral surgeons , an oral pathologist , and pediatric dentists was needed to treat the patient as she originally presented to the clinic with extraoral swelling and pain . Patient is now 7 years old , doing really well , and is under continuous care and monitoring at the dental clinic .
DR . MARIA MARANGA APPOINTED SECOND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE ADA
Congratulations to Dr . Maria Maranga , NYU Langone Dental Medicine Endodontic Attending to the General Practice Residency Program , for her appointment as Second Vice President of the American Dental Association . The role is to be the voice of the 483 delegates who have been elected to represent the 163,000 ADA members from across the country .
Congratulations to Dr . Sara Zahoor , AEGD 2020 graduate ( on right ). She was awarded a “ New Health Professionals Award ” by the Center for Family Health , one of NYU Langone Dental Medicine ' s AEGD training sites in Jackson , MI . The Center recognized her “ For being a team player and seeking to improve your knowledge in clinical skills as a young professional .” An article went on to say “ Dr . Sara Zahoor came to the Center in August of 2018 as a resident . Anyone who meets her will immediately notice her positive and uplifting spirit . This spirit extends to her patient interactions — as she cares for her patients as a whole , uplifting their dignity through the care she provides . She holds the record for the number of positive comments we receive about her from patients . As a fully engaged team member , she is always ready to help when needed and seeks to continually improve her knowledge and clinical skills as a young professional .”
DENTAL RESIDENTS SELECTED TO SERVE ON RESIDENTS COMMITTEE
Congratulations to Dr . Christy Tran , pediatric dentistry resident at NYU Langone Dental Medicine ' s Columbia , MO training site and Dr . Naheed Ahmad , pediatric dentistry resident at the Sane Diego , CA training site . Drs . Tran and Ahmad were two of six new members selected to serve on the Pediatric Dental Residents Committee Group on AAPD ' s Little Teeth Chat . Little Teeth Chat is one of AAPD ’ s shared interest groups and gives members an opportunity to engage with one another in a variety of ways .

2019 PUGH ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECIPIENTS
Congratulations to the 2019 Richard C . Pugh Achievement Award Recipients ! This award honors the top three percent of scores on the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry ’ s ( ABPD ) 2019 Qualifying Examination . NYU Langone Dental Medicine graduates represent 23.5 % of all Pugh Awardees . Dr . Pugh was ABPD ' s Educational Measurement Consultant for 28 years , and retired in 1998 .
