MAR 2 — NYU Langone Health restrictions on business-related travel

MAR 11 — World Health Organization ( WHO ) declared COVID-19 a pandemic

MAR 15 — US state and local governments order shut-down of non-essential businesses

MAR 16 — AEGD Program notified that 1st health center outside of NY State has shut down

MAR 20 — Dental Family Health Centers at NYU Langone closed all sites , except the main hospital site which acted as a dental ER ; NYU Langone Dental Medicine training sites across the country only open for urgent and emergent cases

MAR 23 — Graduate Dental Education offers “ special curriculum ” to residents

Dr . Sam Ishimura retired at the end of June 2020 as AEGD Associate Director of the Hawaii region after 17 years of support , education , mentorship , and leadership provided to our residents and clinical training sites . On March 6 , 2014 , Dr . Ishimura was awarded the Outstanding AEGD Program Director Award by Dr . Anna D ’ Emilio .

AUG 3 — AEGD program adopts new structural and organizational changes as a means of administrative quality improvement initiative
