This is a powerful concept which shows that for students to learn anything they need to be shown that the information they are receiving is important. Once a student finds a subject ‘cool,’ everything changes in their brain and the way they perceive it. I admit that it is hard to realize this concept. Trying to use new ways to teach subjects like math and biology is a challenge. But teachers must realize that learning these and similar subjects mostly by using books and a blackboard cannot compete with teaching through virtual reality, which would be much more practical and fun. These new ways to learn may sound fantastical and unreal now, but they are all achievable through technology, design and imagination. Seeing how technology is developing so fast, it seems we will have the opportunity to turn education into anything we can think of very soon. Given the option – what would you turn it into? 3.2 International projects and their lifelong potential Jelena Malinović – Slovenia It is very difficult to imagine education today as simply learning from a prescribed coursebook. Without modern technology and above all ICT tools, the world would suddenly stand still and time would simply stop. In today's world ICT has become an important part of teaching and learning. With the help of modern technology the knowledge that a young person obtains no longer stays within the walls of the classroom, but goes beyond it. Look around you. This room is full of people young and old, from different countries, cultures, races, creeds and languages. How did we all get here and what are we doing in such a small country like Slovenia? Well, the answer to all these questions is very simple – international projects. Something that our parents, grandparents and great- grandparents never knew even existed when they were going to school.
