Cinema: Roberto Benigni wins three Oscars for
his film “La Vita è Bella ”.
Roberto Benigni, an Italian actor,
won three Oscars at the age of 47 in
the night of 21st March, 1999. He
won them for the best soundtrack,
the best actor and finally for the best
foreign film.
THE PLOT OF THE MOVIE: “La Vita è Bella” is a film acted
by Benigni in the role of Guido Orefice who falls in love with
Nicoletta Braschi, a teacher in the film and his current wife in
life. After many attempts Guido succeeds in winning her love
and together they have a son: Giosuè.
The movie is set
during the second
world war and the
Orefices are Jewish.
After a while the racial
laws are implemented
and Guido and his
family are deported to
the extermination
camp. Benigni wants
to make his son
believe to live an
adventure and he
manages it thanks to
jokes and funny
mom ents.
The war is over and Guido is killed by the
Nazis, but Giosuè with his mother survive
and when they find an empty tank the boy
shouts: “mom, mom we won…”
