THE BRACE OUR PRODUCERS
WELCOME THE BRACE
OUR DELI PRODUCERS
A warm welcome from the Brace of Butchers for this our very
first issue. Based in the heart of Poundbury we’ve been championing fantastic
produce straight from the heart of the Dorset countryside since 2014.
It’s not all about the award-winning meat at the Brace of Butchers, you know. Here’s our selection of delicious local producers.
We’re immensely proud of the thriving food hall experience we’ve created and
fortunate enough to have been recognised with a medley of awards recently that
include being a finalist for Best Butcher of the UK and winner for Best Newcomer
in the UK at the acclaimed Farm Shop and Deli Awards 2017.
We’ve also asked the Year 2 pupils of Damers School to create a unique sausage.
We’ll then sell the winning idea for a week, with the proceeds going to the school.
You can read about this and much more in the issue. We believe that as long as
you are able to offer your customers great service and fine products, the ethos of
the traditional trader is still alive and kicking, which enables us to flourish in the
heart of the community.
Our experienced butchers have knowledge about meat that you won’t find easily
and we want to encourage people to tap into that knowledge, discover more about
meat and most importantly of all, learn how to cook it and enjoy it at home.
Conker Gin
Simply top-notch small batch gin distilled
in Dorset from British wheat spirit and New
Forest Spring Water. Fantastic.
Sopley Salads

salad all through the week. As fresh as it gets
and a joy to behold.

Dorchester, a great name for a butchers. So good is
it that it’s recently won Best Newcomer In the UK at
the Farm Shop and Deli Awards”
Brace of Butchers boasts a range of in-house
products, thoughtfully developed by local
restauranteur and chef Mark Vaughan which make a
welcome addition to the baskets of more than 55,000
of our customers per year.
This diversity was recognised in April this year,
when owner Tom Amery and members of the team
attended the nationally acclaimed Farm Shop and
Deli Show at the NEC in Birmingham to be awarded
a finalist position for Best Butcher of the UK and
winner for Best Newcomer in the UK. Earlier this year, Radio 2 food correspondent Nigel
Barden and Farm Shop and Deli Show judge popped
into Brace of Butchers on his tour of the finalists
businesses and was greatly impressed with the
diverse range of products on display and the layout. Since opening, the team are incredibly proud to
have already picked up many other awards including
National New Butcher of the Year in the Butchers
Shop of the Year Awards 2015, winner in the Wessex
FM Local Business Awards 2015 and a finalist spot in
the Taste of Dorset 2015 awards, plus a silver in the
National Sausage Awards.
Tom Amery says: “Winning awards is always
special and we’re delighted. It’s a great accolade
and the staff love it as it is a national benchmark
and indication all their hard work is recognised. An
industry award is always a great achievement.” Later in June, Nigel used our Aberdeen Angus steak
bought for his regular Foodie Thursday segment
during Radio 2’s S imon Mayo Drivetime show.
Nigel told millions of listeners: “The meat is from
the Brace of Butchers in Poundbury just outside Tom added: “We opened the shop and built it around
customer needs. It was a grass roots concept and
we look forward to many more awards to celebrate
Dorset Food and drink in the coming years.”
