Ian Shirt has hailed the
commitment shown by his
Worsbrough Bridge squad after
a very positive start to the
season.
Worsbrough nearly folded last
season and regularly struggled
to get a side out, but the whole
outlook has changed under the
new regime running the club.
Bridge have already eight
points after six games and Shirt
is delighted with the progress
made.

“We were a bit disappointed
about the Nostell result,
whereas against Shirebrook we
were diabolical. That was worst
than last year and I told them
that and I told them it was
unacceptable.
“They’ve responded. We got a
deserved win at Selby and then
got a deserved point at
Glasshoughton.”
“We’re on par with our targets.
If we get
another win,
“It is a lot better than last
season, but we did expect that,” we’ve matched
our wins for last

year.”

“We’re getting 17 or 18 to
training and we’re getting a full
squad for matches which is very
pleasing when you consider
what went on last year.”
“The lads are wanting to come
and play for Worsbrough
Bridge. At Glasshoughton,
when we walked in we heard
someone say ‘Glasshoughton
will get seven tonight’. Well
whoever said it won’t be
thinking that now.”
