Meet Post Exchange Sali Begu front line supervisor at Post Exchange How do you start your day? When I am working I usually wake up around 0700 hrs, have breakfast, have my tea or coffee and then I leave for work at Camp Bondsteel. Many of the workers and personnel of the Camp Bondsteel Post Exchange have been here since it opened 15 years ago. Since then they have been serving soldiers and civilians with kindness and respect. How long have you been working here? I have been working for AAFES since 2002. From June 2006 until July 2013 I worked in Iraq and Kuwait supporting American troops. During this time I was a manager and I was overseeing many post exchange shops in different camps in Iraq, like Camp Speicher in Tikrit, Camp Victory in Balad, then in Kuwait Camps Al Jaber and Arifjan. It has been an unforgettable experience during the whole time I was working for AAFES. What do you do here at Camp Bondsteel? I work as a front line supervisor for AAFES. Part of my responsibility is overseeing the daily work of all the cashiers at Post Exchange at Camp Bondsteel, making sure all the procedures and transactions are done properly in order to serve the customer needs. What is the most rewarding part of your job? It’s a good feeling when the customers are pleased with the services that we offer. Also knowing that we are serving people that have sacrificed for our freedom it’s the biggest pleasure for me. Where are you from and are you married? Kids? I was born in Ferizaj, and live in Ferizaj. I am married to my wife Merita and we have four children, daughters Tringa 11 years old, Rina 10 years, Dafina six years and the two month old son Drini. What do you do in your down (free) time? Even though I am studying to get my bachelors degree, the free time that I have I like to spend it watching different shows in television; my favorite are documentaries.
