Meet Post Exchange
Sali Begu front line supervisor at Post Exchange
How do you start your day?
When I am working I usually wake up around 0700 hrs,
have breakfast, have my tea or coffee and then I leave
for work at Camp Bondsteel.
Many of the workers and personnel of the Camp Bondsteel
Post Exchange have been here since it opened 15 years ago.
Since then they have been serving soldiers and civilians with
kindness and respect.
How long have you been working here?
I have been working for AAFES since 2002. From June
2006 until July 2013 I worked in Iraq and Kuwait supporting
American troops. During this time I was a manager and I
was overseeing many post exchange shops in different
camps in Iraq, like Camp Speicher in Tikrit, Camp Victory
in Balad, then in Kuwait Camps Al Jaber and Arifjan. It
has been an unforgettable experience during the whole
time I was working for AAFES.
What do you do here at Camp Bondsteel?
I work as a front line supervisor for AAFES. Part of my
responsibility is overseeing the daily work of all the
cashiers at Post Exchange at Camp Bondsteel, making
sure all the procedures and transactions are done
properly in order to serve the customer needs.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
It’s a good feeling when the customers are pleased with
the services that we offer. Also knowing that we are
serving people that have sacrificed for our freedom it’s
the biggest pleasure for me.
Where are you from and are you married? Kids?
I was born in Ferizaj, and live in Ferizaj. I am married to my
wife Merita and we have four children, daughters Tringa
11 years old, Rina 10 years, Dafina six years and the two
month old son Drini.
What do you do in your down (free) time?
Even though I am studying to get my bachelors degree,
the free time that I have I like to spend it watching
different shows in television; my favorite are
documentaries. On weekends we go out with my family
to dinner or lun 6
