Yum Cimil took one look around and rapidly realized if he
stood out in the open like the other Spirits, he too would be
captured again. Turning himself into vapor, he shot up the air
vent that leads to the outside of the pyramid. He abandoned his
open Portal door leading to Xibalbá. Tital, Bardala, Jonathan, and
Viviana all saw Yum Cimil turn and leave. They were hoping
against hope that he would stay gone out of their lives forever.
“Zotz, bring the crew up here. We’re okay,” Bardala yelled
down the stairwell. Tital and the rest of the crew started looking
for Moka, Eegh, Lena, and Kuó. Hoping that Yum Cimil had lied,
and that they might find them somewhere in the Queen’s
Chamber.
Jonathan defiantly stood in front of the Spirit whom Tital
freed from his stone encasement.
“What is your name?” He asked in a loud voice. “I am Ah
Hulneb. How may I be of service to you?” Jonathan turned and
yelled out, “Zotz, I need you!”
Once Zotz got close, he instantly recognized a Spirit he had
not seen in a very, very long time. As the crewmembers that
were left assembled around, Zotz introduced the newly freed
Spirit to them. Ah Hulneb told them what had happened to him.
He told them that the dead Queen, lying in the stone
sarcophagus in the middle of the room, was pure evil. That the
evil Spirits she worshipped had captured many other good Spirits
and encased them all in stone. Their belief was that one kin they
