“Zotz, you’re a Spirit, how can we get to the Queen’s
Chamber?” Bardala asked.
“If you were like me, you could vaporize and as a vapor, float
up the opened air vent to the chamber and then rematerialize.
But, since you are human, we will have to find the stairwell.
There must be one, but a high energy blocks its trigger from my
view. Even I don’t understand it,” Zotz replied.
“Be it sooner, or be it later, the mortal humans will go one
direction, back to Earth, or they will find someway to reach their
friends, the monkeys. I want you two to snatch at least two of
them. Take them directly to outside the gates of Xibalbá. Then
wait for me there. Grab the monkeys, too!” Yum Cimil told his
loyal followers. “Vaporize, and go to the Queen’s Chamber.
Grab the two monkeys, take them to Xibalbá first. Then return
and wait to see which way the humans are able to go. Grab at
least two of them,” Yum Cimil commanded.
Jonathan had been keenly studying the west wall with special
care. He remembered from his studies the face of the dragon,
Kukulcán, on the outside of the pyramid at the bottom of the
staircase.
