gold for so precious a gift of cattle that will enrich my tribe
forever. It’s hard for me to understand why men put so much
faith in gold.”
“As a Spirit, we find it hard to believe many things that
happen in this world,” Ek Chuah said.
“Lena, when I saw all those pens full of Black Angus cattle,
that came in as one herd to be broken up and sold to the winds, I
just knew your father, Trall, would appreciate having cattle bred
from such a well known foundation herd known as the Sitz Ranch
out of Harrison, Montana,” Tital told her. “The cattle have to be
bred tough to make it out in that country.”
“What my son is trying to tell you is back in Mexico, my father
and I were ranchers. We raised Black Angus cattle, it is a strong
breed of cattle that will help your people in good times and bad,”
Fernándo told her.
“Now, it’s time for bed. We have a full day of rounding up
horses,” Bardala said, as she pointed towards the tents.
“We’ll start by moving the herd that is grazing along the
Snake River first,” Tital told the crew as they walked to their
NorthFace tents.
Suddenly, out of the dark Lehman’s Caves walked Zotz, who
seemed glad to see the crew.
“You told me to contact you Tital, if I needed you.”
“What’s the problem?” Bardala turned to ask.
“It’s not a problem, it’s a big problem, and I need Tital to
come quick to help me. We’ve been attacked. It must have
happened when I was here on Earth. Several Atoo warriors were
taken, and not by another Atoo war party. Several herds of
horses were scattered. You must come, now!” Zotz said in a
troubled voice.
