to town? Martha, that’s my wife of forty-two years, didn’t say
anything at breakfast this morning about a circus, or a rodeo,”
said the local man, scratching his head.
“I was hoping you were going to tell me how to find the
nearest sale barn for cattle,” Tital asked again.
“Oh, yes, now you see this road here, you turn on it and go
north for about two miles, look for a sign. I think it’s still up, a
sign that says Wotherton Cattle Sales. Turn there and you go
west for another...I’d say two miles, more or less. That should
bring you right to the place. Say, you wouldn’t want to sell one
of those monkeys? My wife’s birthday is comin’ up first of next
week. I need to get her something fancy. Martha would sure
love one of your monkeys. She would then be the only one in
town with her very own monkey.”
Moka and Eegh began chattering and hissing, even before
Tital responded. “No sir, I couldn’t sell my friends. However, you
could try the Internet. I think you could find some good birthday
gifts there. Besides, both of these monkeys bite.” With that
statement Moka and Eegh bared their teeth.
“Well, Martha wouldn’t like no bitin’ monkey. Tell Bill, the
owner, that Sam sent you his way. Maybe he will send me a
steak for the referral.”
“Thanks, Sam. Hope you find that special gift for Martha,”
Tital said as Sam walked into the grocery store.
Tital was cleaning the hooves of the horses when Ek Chuah
drove up in a brand-new F-550, Super-Duty, Crew Cab, Ford
Truck. He parked it in front of the market.
