followed Tital on the all morning ride. They generally followed
the Colorado River. It was eleven o’clock when they first
encountered part of the herd.
“There they are,” said Jonathan, “right where we expected
them to be. In fact, it is only seventeen point six kilometers to
the cave from here.”
“Let’s circle to the east and head northerly. Viviana, take
Moka and Eegh with you and stay here. When you see the lead
stallion, gently control him with your special powers. Keep him
headed south, and radio us if you have a problem, and to let us
know how you are doing,” Tital said, as he and the rest of the
group circled the spread out herd. “Jonathan,” Tital said, as they
flanked the herd. “This will be a good spot for you to be. What’s
the distance to Viviana?”
“One point two kilometers,” Jonathan responded after
checking his digital GPS. “I’ll keep in touch.”
“We will have Lena stationed a half kilometer farther north,
you should be able to see each other at that distance,” Tital
announced as the group continued north.
Ronú was the last one on the eastern flank of the herd then
Tital, Bardala, and Kuó encircled the herd to the north. “We’ll let
Brilloso work the herd south. When they see him they will start
to move, especially when he gets close. Now, let’s spread out
and start pushing them always south.”
As soon as Brilloso started to close in from the north, one bay
mare noticed him, and she nickered to her colt and started
walking south. Then there was a second mare, which picked up
