THE BLUE FEATHER

“Maybe you will make Chief Trall a good slave, the Chief of
the Almaya.”
“We are good warriors, but we make poor slaves.”
“Do you see Kukulcán’s Pyramid?” Tital asked.
“Yes.”
“Do you want to see Atoo warrior’s blood running down
those stone steps?”
“You want to kill us!” Togué shouted. “I knew it!”
“If I wanted you dead, I could raise you up, and drop you on
your soft heads,” Tital said as he raised his finger sending Togué’s
body higher in the air. “Do you believe me?”
“Then...you want us to be your...s-s-slaves?” Prince Togué
asked in confusion, almost unable to realize he could be a slave.
“No, what I want is the return of all the Almaya people back
to their tribe. Do you still have a young man by the name of
Koo?” Tital asked, lowering Togué to the ground.
“He is my younger brother, Prince Tanolo’s household slave,”
Togué replied with a deep sigh, glad to feel the ground beneath
his feet.
“Is he well?”
“Yes, Tanolo treats him good.”
“How many warriors are in your Tribe?” Tital asked Togué
while looking him in the eye.
“I don’t...” Togué started to lie. Tital raised his finger and
Togué flew two meters in the air.
“I would hate to turn you back over to Bardala,” Tital smiled
and said. “She might drop you on your strong legs. Then you
would never walk, as a warrior, ever again. Now, how many
warriors are in your tribe?”
