JUAN FRANCISCO BLANCO
Krun’na, his cousin, said.
“How many more kins before the moon of Ero is full?” Unnil
wanted to know.
“That’s when they will kill us on that pyramid. That’s the
Pyramid of Kukulcán, the great feathered dragon. They are not
gods, the one they call Ronú, his blood is like ours. They had to
pray over him to make him well and strong again. We have to
find a way to escape from them, and before the moon, Ero, is full
again. Our father will pay tribute for our release. Will he not, my
brother?” Tanolo asked.
Togué could only look at the ground before saying, “Do you
want to send him word, that a young woman and children have
us all captive?”
“Maybe she is an evil witch, and she fools us with her beauty.
Krun’na, did your father ever teach you any protection spells?”
asked Unnil.
“None that will work on… they must be Gods to have these
powers. The man stopped the Gigantoraptor in midair and
waved his hand, our beasts turned by magic and flew wherever
the man they call Tital wanted them to go,” Krun’na answered.
“Look up in the sky at Ero. She will be full in five kins,” Togué
said, pointing up at the largest moon in the dark sky.
“We came to the Lost City of Dómpu for riches and the Sacred
Sword of Kukulcán. Now look at us, captives of...a witch and
monkeys.” Unnil said, shaking his head in disgust with himself.
Suddenly, Brilloso came running from around the corner of the
house and ran up to the invisible bubble, barking.
“Another demon, and it has long teeth, they probably will
feed us to it after they kill us on Kukulcán’s altar,” Krun’na
lamented.
