After an hour of taking pictures of the stelae, and trying to
read the intricate glyphs, Tital told the crew, “Okay, let’s go check
out the pyramid.”
The climb up to the top was harder than they had thought.
The sides were steeper than they looked from the ground.
“We’re going to go up and take some pictures as we go.”
Jonathan told Tital. “Ronú and Lena want to go with me. We’ll
meet you and the rest of the crew climbing up.”
“Be careful,” Bardala told her brother.
“We will be okay. Don’t be such a worry-wart,” Jonathan
replied as the group started up the front side of the pyramid with
Moka and Eegh leading the way.
“We’re going to walk around the base and take some pictures
of some of the glyphs,” Bardala said looking up at the top of the
pyramid. “Remember, watch out for dinosaurs.”
“We’ve got our bows and arrows ready. We’re prepared for
anything,” Ronú boasted as he climbed up higher on the side of
the pyramid.
Tital and Bardala walked along taking pictures with Bardala’s
Canon digital camera. “Smile,” she told Viviana and Kuó as she
snapped a picture of them and a glyph carved into the limestone
blocks. “Will the horses be okay with Brilloso watching them?”
“Yes,” replied Tital, “He’ll round them up and herd them back
inside the building at the first sign of trouble. Now look at that, a
doorway into this pyramid,” Tital pointed it out as they turned to
the westward facing side of the pyramid. “Come on let’s go take
a look at it.”
